Job Title: Physician Assistant (PA) — Urgent Care & Infusion Services (supporting pharmacy operations)

Pay: $58-$62 per hour

Job Summary:
The Physician Assistant (PA) will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care within both Urgent Care and Infusion Center settings. This role combines management of acute and minor illnesses, injuries, and infections with oversight of in-house infusion therapies such as IV hydration, iron replacement, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and vitamin infusions.

The PA will function autonomously under physician supervision, collaborating closely with medical, nursing, and pharmacy teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care. The ideal candidate demonstrates clinical confidence, sound judgment, and commitment to patient-centered service excellence.

Urgent Care Clinical Duties:
• Perform comprehensive medical histories and focused physical examinations for patients of all ages
• Diagnose and manage acute and minor medical conditions including respiratory, musculoskeletal, dermatologic, and infectious diseases
• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as laboratory studies, X-rays, and EKGs
• Prescribe and manage medications, therapies, and durable medical equipment in accordance with Ohio state law and supervising physician protocols
• Perform common urgent care procedures, including: suturing, wound care, splinting, incision and drainage, and foreign body removal
• Provide detailed patient education, counseling, and discharge instructions to ensure understanding and adherence to treatment plans

Infusion Center Duties:
• Assess patient eligibility and medical necessity for infusion therapy
• Initiate, monitor, and discontinue IV infusions (hydration, antibiotics, anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory, vitamin, and iron therapies)
• Monitor patients for infusion reactions or complications and respond appropriately
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff for medication verification, preparation, and dosing accuracy
• Ensure adherence to aseptic technique and patient monitoring standards throughout the infusion process
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of infusion treatments and outcomes
• Support ongoing quality assurance and protocol development for infusion safety and efficiency

Clinical Documentation & Compliance:
• Document all patient encounters promptly and accurately in the EMR
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, CDC, and Ohio Medical Board regulations
• Participate in internal quality improvement, case reviews, and peer evaluations
• Utilize evidence-based clinical guidelines from UpToDate, AAFP, ACEP, UCA, and CDC resources
• Maintain working knowledge of standard clinical references:
Urgent Care Medicine (David & Greenwald)
Minor Emergencies (Buttaravoli & Leffler)
Family Practice Guidelines (Cash & Glass)

Skills & Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program; current NCCPA certification required
• Active Ohio PA license with prescriptive authority and supervising physician agreement in place
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or family practice preferred
• Strong diagnostic reasoning, procedural proficiency, and ability to manage both urgent and infusion patients independently
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Preferred certifications: PALS, DOT, POCUS (Point-of-Care Ultrasound)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a patient-focused approach

Preferred Experience:
• Experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or infusion therapy settings
• Proficiency in managing common infusion treatments (Iron, Toradol, Zofran, Hydration, Antibiotics, etc.)
• Familiarity with urgent care workflows and interdepartmental collaboration with an onsite pharmacy and infusion center
• Knowledge (or willing to learn) ICD-10 and CPT coding for urgent care and infusion visits
